Anya Lockart Holds Holoconference to Make Public Statement
Here at Galaxy Beat, we have obtained an exclusive transcript of this Afternoon's Holoconference held by Anya Lockhart to address last month's debacle at her hosted Cyberbotics gala and her pending position within the Alliance Senate. Ms. Lockhart hosted the conference with several journalists throughout the galaxy, allowing them the opportunity to get some questions in before ending things rather abruptly when it appeared reporters had crossed a line.

Lockhart: Good Afternoon! I've brought you all here today to address a few issues and to clear the air on numerous rumors and concerns since the incident at the Cyberbotics Gala a month ago. What happened was unfortunate. My security team and those outside hires specifically for the event worked tirelessly to assure a safe and enjoyable time was had by all. The attack came out of nowhere and we were perhaps not as prepared as we should have been, though we did all we could to take necessary steps. The event was supposed to be a charity opportunity and though we still managed to raise a considerable amount for the cause, the objective is tainted. This has been an emotional and trying time for both myself and those involved and injured in the hysteria. I again send out my sincerest apologies to all our partners, vendors, speakers, sponsors, and guests. I’d also like to thank T-Sec and Medical teams for their prompt response in securing the area and providing medical attention for those who were injured.

Throughout these last few weeks, I've had time to process while I figure out what comes next. It's come to my attention that I cannot fix the issues I want by myself. I can't even do it with a team. Trust is a hard thing to give in politics, especially in this day and age where you don't know who’s on your side and who isn't. I’ve been in this life since before I could talk and although my views often drastically differed from that of my father, it felt as though I was following a little too closely in his footsteps.

I know the rumors and I won't pretend to know the exact motives behind the attack. I don't know why someone would have it out for me other than feeling threatened of what I might actually be able to do with a Senate seat. I've never pretended not to have an influence on the public or voters and there are some that could also see this as a problem within the Alliance. Lately, I've been going through a complete reassessment of what it is I want and I feel that at this time, that doesn't involve a run for Senate. Therefore, I am renouncing my campaign effective immediately.

I want to thank my supporters, my followers, my family, and loved ones for their continued words of encouragement. At this time, I'll open it up to you for a few questions.

Have you provided appropriate care for your security guard who was injured?
AL: Apollo has been receiving the top of the line in medical care. I spoke to him this morning and he's doing well and in good spirits, though his recovery period is still ongoing.

How are you going to atone for the atrocity that happened on your watch?
AL: We're working with insurance companies and I've offered some of my own savings to aid in repairing damages to the ballroom as well as medical services.

Why would someone want to kill you, Anya? What do you have to hide?
AL: Let me put this in terms that everyone can understand. I have nothing to hide.

You just recently returned from vacation, right? Did you go anywhere nice? Were you attacked there as well? Do you feel safe on Terminus?
AL: I went to Mahoroba, which, you know, is where I'm from. I had a great and much needed time to unwind. And no, I wasn't attacked. That's a silly question. Of course I feel safe on Terminus. I wouldn't be here if I didn't.

Ronin Frazier was with you, right? Are you two getting serious? Does his influence on you have anything to do with you dropping out of the Senate race?
AL: [visibly annoyed] This is irrelevant and completely ridiculous. Next.

Is that your real hair?
AL: [laughs] Real hair. Fake color. We all know I'm not a redhead.

How do you respond to people who believe the whole Gala incident to be a conspiracy and a bid for you to circulate more attention about yourself? Was it all planned?
AL: I don't need to plan a catastrophe to generate attention for myself. [reaches for the earpiece in her ear] Thank you all for your time.

[holo connection terminated]
